Join the Mornington Sinfonia - amateur orchestra in Kentish Town NW5

URGENT: Temporary 2nd flute needed for two terms - spring and summer 2019, as our regular player is away.

We need more string players in all sections. We currently have vacancies for horns and timpani, and we sometimes need trombones. We sometimes need deputies for our wind players. Our standard is particularly suitable for intermediate players (grade 6 and above). No audition required - if you like us, we'll like you! Just turn up to any rehearsal and see how you get on. Let us know in advance that you're coming, and we'll make sure that there's a set of music for you.

Rehearsals are on Thursdays, 7.45-9.45pm in Don Bosco Hall at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, in Falkland Road near the corner of Lady Margaret Road, London NW5 2XT (map). Please try to arrive by 7.30pm so that we can set up and start playing promptly at 7.45pm. The nearest tube and rail station is Kentish Town. If coming by car, there's free parking after 6.30pm in Lady Margaret Road, Falkland Road and other local streets. Buses: 134, 214, C2 (Kentish Town Road, 5 mins); 10 (Brecknock Road, 7 mins); 29, 253 (Camden Road, 10 mins). Kentish Town West (on the London Overground) is about 10-15 minutes' walk from our rehearsal venue.

Subscriptions, £75 per term (concessions £40), include :

  • ten Thursday evening sessions. Usually the last session of term will be an informal concert.
  • refreshments - a choice of teas, coffee and high quality biscuits - during rehearsal breaks
  • membership of a private email discussion list with access to the leader, conductor and other orchestra members. Please ask to join.
  • optional lessons during rehearsal breaks from our professional leader (string players only)

A small group from the orchestra meets at The Pineapple pub, 51 Leverton Street, Kentish Town, NW5 2NX, after some rehearsals for a drink and a chat, normally from just after 10pm.
