Join the Mornington Sinfonia

We need more violin and viola players. We currently have vacancies for 2nd horn and 2nd trumpet, and we sometimes need trombones. We sometimes need deputies for our wind players. Our standard is particularly suitable for intermediate players (grade 5 and above). No audition required - if you like us, we'll like you! Just turn up to any rehearsal and see how you get on, and/or come and meet up in the pub afterwards (see below).

Rehearsals are on Thursdays, 7.45-9.45pm in Don Bosco Hall at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, in Falkland Road near the corner of Lady Margaret Road, London NW5 2XT (map). Please try to arrive by 7.30pm so that we can set up and start playing promptly at 7.45pm. The nearest tube station is Kentish Town. If coming by car, there's free parking after 6.30pm in either Lady Margaret Road or Falkland Road.

Subscriptions, £75 per term (concessions £40), include :

  • ten Thursday evening sessions. Often the last session of term will be a concert.
  • refreshments - tea, coffee and biscuits - during rehearsal breaks
  • membership of a private email discussion list with access to the conductors and other orchestra members
  • optional lessons during rehearsal breaks from our professional leader (strings) or one of our conductors (wind)
  • a subscription to Music & Vision Magazine - an online publication run by one of the conductors

A small but regular group from the orchestra meets at The Pineapple pub, 51 Leverton Street, Kentish Town, NW5 2NX, after each rehearsal for a drink and a chat, normally from around 10pm.

Mornington Sinfonia is Japanese musician friendly - one of our conductors speaks a little bit of Japanese because his wife is from Japan.
