The Mornington Sinfonia is a friendly, welcoming orchestra in North London which is particularly suitable for intermediate players.

The orchestra meets each Thursday evening during term time. Half term break is on 18 February 2010, and the last rehearsal of term will be on 25 March 2010. Repertoire for the next few weeks of term is :

Bizet: L'Arlesienne Suite No 1
Mendelssohn: Violin Concerto (soloist: Ann Binks)
Haydn: Symphony No 102

Since October 2008 we've had great fun playing Haydn's Surprise Symphony, Beethoven's Fidelio Overture, Brahms' Symphony No 1, Mendelssohn's Symphony No 1, Rossini's overture The Italian Girl in Algiers, Beethoven's Symphony No 4, Dvorak's Symphony No 7, Brahms'  Academic Festival Overture, Haydn's Clock Symphony, Bruch's Violin Concerto (with our leader, Ann Binks, as soloist), Schubert's Marche Militaire No 1 (orchestrated by Richard Lawrence), Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel Overture, Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, Tchaikovsky's Little Russian Symphony, Mendelssohn's Calm Sea and Prosperous Voyage overture, Schubert's Overture in the Italian Style (in C), Mendelssohn's Reformation Symphony (No 5 in D minor), Dvorak's Symphony No 6, Weber's Euryanthe Overture, Elgar's Three Dances From the Bavarian Highlands, Beethoven's Symphony No 1 and Mozart's Don Giovanni Overture.

We often change the repertoire twice a term to get experience performing different pieces.
